At a recent seminar held by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, Xing Yiteng, director of the New Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, pointed out that the "14th Five-Year Plan" is the key for China to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and to accelerate the clean and low-carbon transformation of the energy system.
Where is 100% green electricity from in Winter Olympics?

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games officially opened on Feb 4. The 26 venues in the three major competition areas of the Beijing Winter Olympics will achieve 100% green power supply for the first time in history, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian.
It is known that the green power supply in the Winter Olympics area is from wind, light and water. The Zhangbei DC Project is specially constructed to provide 100% green power for the venues in the Winter Olympics. In addition, new energy generation such as wind and photovoltaic power generation are purchased from green grids and power generation companies through power trading.
CHINA HUANENG、SPIC、SGCC and other central state-owned enterprises built and run a series of wind power, photovoltaic power and other new energy power stations to help the Winter Olympics. Private enterprises such as Zhonghuan built and run the only ground-based centralized solar photovoltaic projects in the core area of the Winter Olympics, which provide a stable supply of green energy to the Winter Olympics venue.
In addition, projects such as the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics Welcome Corridor Photovoltaic Power Generation Project, which are participated by China energy construction, will also continuously deliver green power to the Winter Olympics venues. The use of green electricity adheres to the concept of sustainable development and green development, which greatly reduces the carbon footprint.
For example, the roof of the Wukesong Ice Sports Center is equipped with a 600-kilowatt photovoltaic power generation system, which is expected to generate an average of about 700,000 kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year. A total of 1,958 photovoltaic power generation crystalline silicon modules are installed in the project. The annual clean electricity generated by the project is equivalent to saving 252 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 697.8 tons. By the end of the Winter Paralympics in 2022, the Winter Olympics venues are expected to consume about 400 million kWh of green electricity, reducing 128,000 tons of standard coal and 320,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
From low-carbon energy to low-carbon venues to low-carbon transportation, the Beijing Winter Olympics embodies the concept of Green Olympics everywhere in the preparation process. From National Speed Skating Oval to National Ski Jumping Center, from National Sliding Center to National Aquatics Center, Winter Olympic venues will achieve 100% green electricity.
The "National Team" of the central enterprise promotes energy conservation, emission reduction and low-carbon development with the hardcore strength of technology and manufacturing, making green the most distinctive background for the construction of the Beijing Winter Olympics. The "Green, Inclusive, Open and Clean" Beijing Winter Olympics will provide Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for the future of the Olympic Movement.
Green Winter Olympics, together for a shared future!
